ITINERARY

Itinerary summary

  • Day One: Tour of the Sacred Valley of Peru.
  • Day Two: Urubamba - Ollantaytambo - km 104 - Chachabamba - Machupicchu.

Day One: Tour of the Sacred Valley of Peru.

We will start our tour by picking you up at your hotel in Cusco at 7:00 am; then we will head towards the ruins of Pisac, where you will witness the majestic cultivation terraces built on the slopes; we will also observe the famous Inca tombs anchored in the mountains, it will be the perfect place to understand the great challenge and ingenuity that the Incas had to dominate the geography of nature. We will continue exploring the handicraft market of Pisac, where we will meet some indigenous women of the Andes who maintain their textile traditions. Afterward, we will head to the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Urubamba, where we will enjoy a healthy and delicious lunch. In the afternoon, we will go to the ruins of Moray to contemplate the laboratory of the Incas, where they experimented the agricultural production on the different levels of terraces. We will continue our tour through an agricultural field that will lead us to the mysterious salt mines of Maras; here, we will learn the process of making salt. We will take many pictures before returning to Urubamba, to our campsite. Good night.

Day Two: Urubamba - Ollantaytambo - km 104 - Chachabamba - Machu Picchu

After a wonderful night and a comforting rest, we will wake up early in the morning, enjoy a delicious breakfast, and head to the train station in Ollantaytambo. We will travel for an hour and a half on a scenic train before arriving at the beginning of the KM 104 trail (Chachabamba ruins). En route, you will understand why the Incas called this place "Sacred Valley ."Snow-capped mountains rise above green fields. We will continue to descend into the Ceja De Selva or cloud forest and see the Urubamba River flowing through this picturesque landscape. At the trailhead, KM 104, we will be near the registration point and the beginning of our Short Inca Trail. Our first ruin will be the site of Chachabamba (2050 m), which is masterfully built in an excellent location. A 3-hour hike uphill will take us to the magnificent archaeological center called Wiñay Wayna (2650m). This will be our lunch spot for the day. Our journey continues through the semi-tropical forest for 2 hours until we reach Intipunku, the mystical Sun Gate, which will offer us our first panoramic view of the Machu Picchu site! You will see how beautifully the Incas placed this Citadel between the mountain peaks, the green Sacred Valley, and the beautiful Urubamba River. Another 30 minutes of walking will take us to the Citadel, where we will have an ideal opportunity to take pictures and enjoy the sunset. Then, a bus will take us to Aguas Calientes (2030m), where we will spend the night.

  • Low Altitude: 2030 m. / 6658 ft.
  • High Altitude: 2650 m. / 8692 ft.
  • Lodging: 3 departures Hotel with a panoramic view of the river.

Day Three: Aguas Calientes - Machupichu.

After a hot breakfast at the hotel, we will take the early bus to Machu Picchu; we will climb for an hour and a half until we reach the mountain of Machupicchu to have a panoramic view of the entire contour of the Inca Citadel; this will be a unique and unforgettable experience. Then you will have a 2 to 3-hour tour to get the information about the sacred city and the opportunity to explore and admire the Inca ingenuity. Then we will head back to Aguas Calientes by bus and to Cusco by train.
Note: If you wish to hike Huayna Picchu mountain, you must inform Wari Adventures before traveling to Peru in order to book in advance.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

LUGGLAGE STORAGE

The trips on the Inca Trail and alternate routes do not need to carry your luggage for which we have the luggage storage service in our office; if you return from your trip to the same hotel where you stayed, you can leave it. This equipment will be returned at the moment you return from your trip and taken it with you to your hotel. If you have valuable things, please contact us to take them into account and protect them.

PICK-UPS

The pick-up times will be coordinated with the group leader; this will be done from your hotel, lodging and Airbnb for which the passenger must provide the exact address and reference; the pick-up time is usually at 5:00 am for the different routes.

RETURN TO CUSCO

The return from the city of Machupicchu requires absolute punctuality for the organization of transportation, for which we will provide all the details of the return. We buy the train tickets normally for 2:55 pm, so you can arrive at 7:00 pm in the city of Cusco, consider the time delay due to traffic in the city of Cusco. The return is included transportation and transfers; we will be aware of any changes or delays in the transportation service and train service.
IMPORTANT There is no internet service on the Inca Trail during the 3-day Trek, so you will experience a better connection with nature. In case of emergency, we have specialized doctors for immediate attention according to your requirements. - NOTE: The toilet facilities along the Inca Trail to Machupicchu have been improved both in infrastructure and in quantity and quality along the route, so a portable chemical toilet is not necessary for Wari Adventures due to sanitation issues with the staff in charge. - The itinerary provided here is subject to change without notice, depending on factors such as strikes, weather conditions, roadblocks, or other situations beyond our control. We remain committed to following this itinerary as accurately as possible.

Availability: For the Inca Trail hike, alternate routes, and Machu Picchu, it is required to purchase entrance tickets in advance due to the demand of visitors; also, due to the limit of income per day, we will be ready to provide you with the information of availability through your mail. Form: To reserve a Machu Picchu permit, we need the following information from EACH PARTICIPANT:
  • First name, middle name, and last name (exactly as they appear in your passport).
  • Gender
  • Passport number and expiration date
  • Date of birth (dd / mm / yyyy)
  • Nationality (dd / mm / yyyy)
  • Email address
  • If you are a university student with a valid student ID, please send us a scan or photo at the time of booking.
  • Any dietary requirements or special requests.
  • Any health considerations (medical conditions, prescription medications, etc.)

Deposit: PAYPAL (We recommend this option because it is easier, faster, and more secure).

PayPal payments can be made on our website by clicking on the "Pay Online" button. You can also pay directly to wariadventures@gmail.com. Both options require a 6% fee for PayPal and the bank, but on this first payment, you do not need to pay this tax (it will be assumed by Wari Adventures). Just pay 50% in advance (prepayment). Once you have made your PayPal payment, email us a copy of the transaction to continue with your reservation.

TERMS OF PAYMENT

To guarantee your place on the Inca Trail, you must send us your deposit. Otherwise, we CAN NOT guarantee your reservation. The 50% deposit in advance or the total cost of the trip does NOT include any transfer fees charged by intermediary companies (PayPal, Banks). Once you have made your payment, please send us an email with your transaction receipt or MTCN tracking number to confirm your reservation. Without these, we cannot guarantee your reservation.
